Thinking Pink

Well, our due date came and went last week and our little girl is showing no signs of arriving. I like to think she's comfy and cozy and just taking her time. Of course, we're so excited to meet her and having a hard time waiting!

Maybe because my mind is on the baby, I am drawn to gorgeous shades of pink even more than usual. I love all these paintings by Vancouver artist Zoe Pawlak. She is incredibly versatile but there's something beautiful that connects all her work.

Pants Party

All summer long, I've been living in dresses. They're comfortable, easy and pretty, perfect for hot temps. But as fall approaches, I'm eagerly anticipating all the cool pants I've been seeing in magazines. There are so many trends to try: bold color, edgy prints, metallics and leather-like details. Right at Home

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was very relaxing, with lots of time spent reading. Sometimes it's nice just to hunker down at home and enjoy just being there.

I'd imagine it would be quite pleasant to spend time in this Virginia home, featured on Apartment Therapy. The huge windows and open floor plan are great, but I especially like the details -- the black and white elements, global accents and little surprises like a mini disco ball on display.

Simple Joys

What a nice weekend this was! My husband and I made no plans so we could do whatever we felt like in the moment. We ended up with two days of simple pleasures: Watching the Olympics. Taking the pup for a walk. Making a breakfast of fresh strawberries and yogurt. Settling in with a stack of new magazines. I hope you had a lovely weekend too!

Getting Close

Our baby is due in three weeks, and we spent part of the weekend putting some finishing touches on the nursery. I love spending time in this room already! Sunshine filters in through the trees outside, and inside there are so many sweet touches from loved ones. My mom sewed the pink and white crib skirt and bed pillows, and my aunt made a quilt and crocheted a cast of Star Wars characters as a gift to my husband. We're just so excited for what's to come!

Happy August!

My goodness, this summer has been flying by! So this month I want to take full advantage of the sunshine and hot weather. I'm thinking dinners on the deck, dips in the pool, sundresses, sandals and an appreciation for every last moment of summer.
